Submission overview
Abstract
This study investigates wave propagation in periodic multi-segment curved panels featuring segments with varying curvatures and material properties. Using Floquet–Bloch theory, we derive dispersion relations for a symmetric unit cell and evaluate pass and stop bands under Class-A and Class-B boundary conditions. The framework clarifies how geometric periodicity and property contrast govern band formation, bandwidth, and localization. Particular attention is given to the emergence and evolution of stop-band “bubbles,” for which we provide a comprehensive interpretation in terms of curvature-induced coupling and impedance mismatch across segments. The results offer design guidelines for tailoring band structures in curved panel assemblies, enabling targeted control of vibration and acoustic transmission in engineered periodic structures.
